A Master of Arts at Lund in1971 (English, French, Spanish, General Linguistics) I have made my living using those languages plus my mother tongue - for the better part of a life-time now - within journalism, education, interpreting, research studies, literature. From 1997 on I dedicate myself mainly to translation, however, and have become an associated member of the Swedish Association of Professional Translators (SFÖ).
I translate from English, French, German, Spanish, Norwegian and Danish into Swedish and with assistance of native proofreaders also into Spanish and English. Furthermore: through the ATW IN99 co-operative organisation for on-line translators, of which I am the founder, I can help providing translations from and into Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and some more languages.
So far I have done major jobs for companies like Adtranz (ABB), TESAB, Volvo Team S40, Juneau, RAMAB, Turab AB, GSM Filterteknik AB and ABB Stal. I also work on regular basis for a dozen of translation agencies in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, England, the United States and Canada.
The texts have been contracts or treated themes like tourism, cosmetics, pet-food, nutrition, cooking, computer games, soft-ware, mobile phones, motoring, car-industry, hydraulics, lifts, filters, pipe-lines, printers, wire bending machines, riveting machines, tablet machines, cigarette machines, sailing and oil/gas prospecting. In addition I have translated and translate journalistic and literary texts for magazines and publishers.
I have access to and handle the following software: Windows 95, Windows 98, Works 4.5, Word 97 (MS Office 97), Corel WordPerfect 8, Corel Draw 7, GST Designworks 3, Adobe PageMaker 6.5, QuarkXPress 4.0, Trados 3 and Wordfisher 4,0. My hardware is a PC Compaq Presario 2200, 64 MB SDRAM, 4GB hard disk and 512 kB cache.
My rates for translating start at EUR 0.12/USD 0.10 per word in source-text alternatively EUR 0,95 per line of 55 characters in target text, and can vary up to the double or more depending on language-combination, time limit and difficulty of text. For proofreading I usually charge a fifth of the prices mentioned and for editing a third. Payment can preferably be sent to my postal giro or to my SWIFT-account. Eurocheques, International Money Orders and other types of cheques are accepted only reluctantly.
